In the case of Spark’s Steakhouse (infamous location of a high profile mafia shooting in 1985), it cost $600,000.00 for them to settle an EEOC lawsuit arising from eight years of harassment of male waiters by a male manager. Spark’s was not helped by the fact that the owners and management did not stop the harassment or by the fact that they retaliated against complaining employees. http://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/newsroom/release/11-15-12.cfm
Also of note, in connection with the EEOC’s announcement of the settlement, the EEOC remarked that the percentage of sexual harassment claims filed by men has been steadily increasing. This suggests that employers need to take complaints from male employees seriously and make certain their harassment training does not focus solely on male harassment of female employees.
